Idaho state tournaments might seem a little quieter this year.

According to the Idaho High School Activities Association, spectator limitations will be in place for this year's state tournaments hosted at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa, as well as various high schools across the Treasure Valley.

For the 2021 Real Dairy Shootout, this year's basketball tournament, 1,800 fans will be permitted into the Idaho Center, giving each participating school 900 spectators each. Tickets for games at the Idaho Center will not be available at the gate nor online, but instead be distributed by school administrators.

For games at all other locations, online tickets can be purchased through GoFan. Those other schools will also have different attendance limits. Ridgevue, Mountain View, Middleton, Bishop Kelly and Columbia will allow 300 total fans, 150 from each school. Nampa High School will allow 200 fans, 100 from each school.

Additionally, masks will be required for all spectators at all venues during the entire event. According to the IHSAA, each venue will be cleared of all spectators and cleaned before each game.

The girls basketball state tournament tips off Feb. 17, and will run through Feb. 20. The boys tournament will run March 3-5. Games between 5A schools will be hosted at the Idaho Center, including championship games for all other classifications.

The guidelines come off the back of Gov. Brad Little's Tuesday announcement moving Idaho into Stage Three of the state's reopening plan. Little recently announced high school athletic events can permit 40% capacity for non-essential personnel, and said the move to Stage Three will not change that guideline up until state tournament time.

The Ford Idaho Center website lists the arena's capacity at just over 12,000, which would mean full attendance for this year's tournaments would only reach 15%.

This year's state wrestling championship attendance guidelines have not been finalized by the Idaho Center, according to the IDHSAA.
